My Practice Teaching Internship Journey

A crucial step in becoming a teacher is practice teaching. It gives future instructors exposure to the real teaching and learning environment. Before entering the real world of the teaching profession, a student-teacher has the chance to practice the skill of teaching through practice teaching. Since it allows for a genuine transition between being a student and becoming a member of the teaching profession, student-teachers recognize the importance of practice teaching and regard it as a crucial component of their preparation for the profession. when a result, the student instructors experience a range of emotions when they begin their practice teaching, including enthusiasm, worry, anticipation, and uncertainty.

My capacity to establish connections with my pupils is one of my teaching strengths. I tried to get to know each student, even the ones that I found challenging in class. I wished to become involved in the lives of the pupils. I was able to develop numerous ties with my grade 2 students of Camiling West Central Elementary School. I also made it a point to attend as many extracurricular events as I could, such as seminars and program of the schools. Due in great part to my attention planning, my connections with my pupils flourished.  The hours I invested in getting ready for the class the next day gave me a lot of happiness. I feel that my general planning approach is quite solid, despite the fact that a few classes did not go precisely as I had hoped.

For teaching in ten weeks, I have discovered many things about being a teacher. At first, I have a hunch that being a teacher will be hard because. My parents are both teachers and I notice that they always do a lot of things, It's like they don't have time to just relax in the house, even in weekends, they always do a lot of things. But seeing them enjoying what they always do motivates me to become a successful education graduate. They always tell's me that being a teacher will be hard but all of the struggles and challenges can result a successfulness and you can achieve your goals in a wonderful ways.

During my practice teaching journey, in first week, they given us a task that called observation. You may discover more about children's interests, personalities, what makes them smile or frown, and what they know and can do by watching and listening to them with wonder and curiosity. For me, observation is important because in this, you can monitor what are the abilities and needs of your student's and can help you to make your teaching go smoothly and engaging. I also observe my Cooperating Teacher on how she handles the students and the most important things that I observe is sometimes my cooperating teacher just going along with the students and it resulted a engaging classroom because all of the students are enjoying the lessons and they always feel that they can open up and also shows that they are comfortable. For the start practice teaching, I've been assign in grade 2 and I'm not gonna lie and i think this will be hard for me because as we all know, teaching a children will be hard because they are children and most of them are just focus in playing with each other. For the two to three weeks of my practice teaching experiences, I always do what makes my students feel comfortable, in this weeks I am just presenting ppt presentations because as I observed in my cooperating teacher, the students are active in interesting ppt presentations, doing this for weeks also resulted a successful way of executing my lessons, I can say that they are learning and becoming engaging with each other in terms of individual and group activities. In my lesson planning, I learned that sometimes not all the plan that you did will not go to the way it is, this gives me challenges because it feels that you did something wrong but I think that this situations actually happen in many times. In order to overcome this situation you need to really master your lessons and make some practice in implementing your lessons, so I did that. I mastered my lessons and making myself comfortable in teaching, and also I practice by recording myself while discussing and teaching. This became important to me because I can now see my deficiency in terms of teaching.

For the classroom management in my teaching experiences, this becomes one of the most challenging ways of my teaching. When discussing the lessons, some of the students behaviors are not good, some of them are noisy, some of them are not focus in the class/lessons and most of them are really noisy. So for my six to ten weeks of practice teaching journey, the classroom management becomes one of the most challenging for me this weeks. A classroom with effective classroom management has engaged, well-behaved pupils who are committed to their academics. When there is poor classroom management, pupils are disruptive, disinterested, and instructors are not respected.  The ability to effectively manage a classroom does not come readily. Without a solid grasp of the fundamental components of successful classroom management, your classroom runs the danger of being badly run, which can be harmful to students' growth and academic progress. This became important to me because it is hard when most of the class focus are not in you and if they are not focus to the lessons, it will be resulted a fail and not engaging teaching. In order to overcome this situation, I used some strategies in my teaching. Before starting the lessons, we have rules and the rules are when someone is talking in front, they will just behave and listen, and if they need anything they will just raise their hands. I also tell them to just talk when they have their permission to talk or say something. In their participation in reciting, my rules are when they are raising their hands, they just raise their hands and not talk and i will choose that student that always do this method because this will help us to avoid unnecessary noise in the class. For me in this week, I feel that this is not enough to make the class engaging and control the classroom so I used some interesting instructional materials using tarpapels and printed papers to my discussions and puzzle and scrambled word activities and also giving rewards to students. At first I think that this will not work but for the past few weeks of doing this, they become more engaging in the lessons and there was the time that some of them said that "where are the puzzles and scrambled word sir?" they become more independent and dedicated with themselves because it shows how they are active and it shows that they are interested in the lesson. I love that most of my students becomes active in the class and most of them are having a high scores in my activities and quizzes and I hope that this will keep going.

In order to create courses that support established criteria, I have grown to take pleasure in my ability to understand the standards.  Through student teaching, I have gained important assurance in my capacity to create quality lesson plans. I learned a lot of things in this teaching internship. For teaching in the Camiling West Central Elementary School Grade 2 for ten weeks, I have learned a lot of things, I learned how important having a positive learning environment and classroom management. Discovering different strategies of teaching and how you handle your students. Using interesting instructional materials became important in my teaching journey and knowing what are the needs and abilities of your students. I am thankful to learn these many things and in my practice teaching journey and I will thrive to improve and grow to achieve my goals to becoming a teacher and I hope theses learnings can help me in the future and led me to achieving my goals.
